DAY 1 – Saturday 2, February
Starting from 3:00pm our guests are arriving on board, they are going to be 15 with us this week coming from UK, USA, Germany, Russia, Australia, Spain, Hong Kong, Italy.
After a welcome fresh juice, we lead our guest to discover their comfy cabins. Then we set up the diving gears and finishing some paperwork. At 5:00pm, we ring the bell for the general safety briefing of the boat. At 7:00pm, we ring the bell for dinner, tonight Chef Abu Hassan prepared a fish filet with lemon sauce for us. After a long day of travelling for most of our guests, it is time time to get some rest and to get some strength for our first diving day tomorrow!!
DAY 2 – Sunday 3, February
After leaving the Juweira marina late in the evening, early in the morning, we wake up at 6:15am, at 6:45am we ring the bell for the general dive safety briefing, followed by the briefing of the dive site. Our first dive of the week is going to be Ras Mirbat. During this dive we encounter: kangaroo nudibranch, african chromodorid, pinky chromodorid, spotfin anglerfish, two-faced toadfish. Back on the boat, we move in the direction of Marriott wreck, next dive of the day. On the Marriott today we saw: bluespotted stingray, honeycomb moray eel, and the famous brown eel cat fish. Back on the boat it is lunch time, in the meanwhile we move in the direction of our next dive site Hamdi’s block. At 4:00pm we ring the bell for the briefing. During this dive we visibility was a bit limited, but one of the richness of Oman is when the visibility is doing caprice, just focus on the macro and you till will have a great dive. So this is what we did: marble shrimp, Durban shrimp, anemone crab, red coral grab, small goby. Back on the boat it is already time for some celebration for Maddy, her “special” cake is waiting for her for her 300 dives!!!! Congratulation Maddy!!! At 8:00pm we ring the bell for the dinner. And then after a busy first day it is time to bed!!!
DAY 3 – Monday 4, February
During the night we left the area of Mirbat in the direction of the Hallaniyat’s archipelago. Because of current during the crossing our navigation speed has been limited, result is this morning we are a bit late for our first dive, but what to do?! Nature is the ruler!!! At 7:30am we ring the bell for our first dive Hasikiyah plateau. This morning we encounter: Zebra bream, star-and-stripes snakelet, torpedo ray, and a group of 10 big rainbow runner came to check on us to see if we would be an option for breakfast!!! Back on the boat, the hot breakfast is waiting us. At 11:30pm we ring the bell for the second briefing of the day, Sunny turtle. After the dive, lunch is ready for us, today is spaghetti day!!! At 3:00pm we ring the bell for our afternoon dive, Aquarium. This dive is an easy, shallow, stationary dive, exactly what you want for an afternoon dive!! This afternoon we encounter: marble shrimp, dragon moray, red-tooth triggerfish, and shy coral goby hidden inside the coral table. Back on the boat Nubi and Ahmed are waiting for us with a fresh kiwi juice. At 6:15pm we ring the bell for the night dive, Aquarium again. During this dive we saw: moses sole, torpedo ray, juvenile cuttle fish hiding beside a sea urchin, white ribbon eel over the sandy area.
Back on the boat, a special cake is waiting for Francesc who just completed his 100 dives! Congratulation Francesc, anf thank you for being with us this week!!
Day 4 – Tuesday 5, February
During the night we left Hasikiyah island in the direction of our first dive spot of the day, The city of Winchester wreck close to the Hallaniyat island, the mother island of the archipelago. At 6:45am, we ring the bell for the briefing, then we all jumped in the water. As always the wreck offered us a lot like: big torpedo ray, yellowfin barracuda, orbicular spadefish, double-face toadfish, big talang queenfish curious by our presence. Back on the boat, it is hot breakfast, in the meantime we move in the direction of our next dive spot Fish highway. At 10:30am we ring the bell for the briefing. During this dive we encounter: a huge group of black spotted snapper fish, torpedo ray, potato grouper. After this great dive we turn back to the boat and to get our delicious lunch followed by a short nap. At 3:00pm we start our briefing for our next dive and, Schmies fingers. We entered the water with a big school of minstrel sweet lips, lunar fusilier, blue spotted sting ray. After this nice and easy dive, we had some celebration again as Burkhard was celebrating his 300 dives!!! Congratulation Burkhard!!! Right after admiring the sunset, we ring the bell for our night dive briefing. During this stationary night dive we encounter: striped eel catfish, flat head, squid, and barracuda.
After this nice day of diving, it is time to go to bed to get some strength for tomorrow!!!
DAY 5 – Wednesday 6, February
Early in the morning we left Schmies island in the direction of Al Qibliyah Island, the eastern point of our itinerary. Yesterday night, during “the next day plan” briefing, we gave the option to our guests this week to do an exploration dive, on a spot we never went before. This kind of operation is always a bit tricky before the dive can be good or bad, e just simply don’t know. This week our guests choose the live the adventure and to try the experience. So our first dive this morning was The Unknown. This dive has some potential who will need to maybe be exploited later. Back on the boat, we move in the direction of Al Qibliyah island, where we are going to moray for the day. At 11:00am, we ring the bell for our second dive of the day, Gotta Qibliyah. During this dive we saw: potato grouper, guineafowl pufferfish, big schools of yellowfin goatfish mixed with minstrel sweetlips, blackspotted sweetlips, and a turtle. Back on the boat Nubi and Ahmed are waiting us with a fresh orange juice, then we ring the bell for lunch. At 3:00pm we ring the bell for the afternoon dive Qibliyah rock. During this dive we encounter: yellow fins barracuda, bannerfish, rainbow runner, big jackfish. At 6:15pm we ring the bell for our night dive briefing, Canal garden. During this night dive we met: plenty of crabs, cuttle fish, spiny lobster, and an huge decorated crab. back on the boat after the dive, it is dinner time, tonight Chef Abu Hassan prepared for us a mix of sea food served with fettuccini.
DAY 6 – Thursday 7, February
During the night, we left Al Qibliyah island for Al Hasikiyah island, from the East to the West. This morning the weather is a bit wind and fresh. At 6:45am we ring the bell for our first dive of the day The Cave. During this dive, we could see: beautiful Risbecia, ringed chromodorid, gibbus sweetlips, whitebarred sweetlips, and at the end of our dive swimming in the blue mobula and eagle ray. Back on the boat the hot breakfast is waiting for us. At 10:30 we ring the bell for the next dive, The Arch. As always the mesmerizing cloud of glassfish enchanted our divers. Back on the boat it is lunch time, followed by a nap. At 3:00pm we ring the bell for the third day dive of today, Coral garden. During this dive we spotted: Scorpion fish, geometric moray, jaw fish, honeycomb moray. Back on boat, some of our guests decided to go live the adventure an have a walk on the island. At 6:30pm, we ring the bell for our last night dive of the week, Coral garden. During this dive we saw: flathead, squid, black lamella, white ribbon eel. Back on the boat it is dinner time, Chef Abu Hassan helped by his assistant Ahmed cooked turkey. After the dinner, we all gathered in the salon as every Thursday to watch the video of the week and the slideshow memories of the week. In the same time, we start our way back to the mainland, where we are going to dive tomorrow.
DAY 7 – Friday 8, February
After a smooth crossing overnight, we wake up this morning in front of Marriott wreck. Today for our last day of diving, because of the low tide unfortunately this morning we are only going to be able to do one dive, the Marriott wreck. This morning the visibly was stunning. After the dive back on the boat, this is breakfast time, and time to wash the equipment with the help of the crew. In the meantime, Captain Ahmed start to drives the vessel on our way back to the marina of Juweira.
At 5:30pm, we ring the bell for the last time this week for the cocktail party, time to celebrate our guests and have the ceremony of the certification.
